Empower yourself with Psychotherapy Session

The talk therapy session look at core story, identity and history underneath the issue (eg “I’m not enough, I’m unsafe, I’ll be rejected) and how it’s shaping your emotions, choices, relationships and performance in life.

Identify deep-seated subconscious patterns and look at unmet core emotional needs and the false narrative or belief that limits your full potential and freedom. There are many thought inquiry in the process.

Instead of ‘How do I manage anxiety better?’ I aim to look at what’s generating the experience in the first place. We look at how to shift and reframe perspective through different techniques such as NLP & parts.

Approach

We explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. It helps you understand what’s going on and supports you in managing distress or life challenges. My talk therapy style is human-centred and flexible (integrative), plus a style that explorative. I may use different techniques like NLP or hynotherapy, parts therapy to create a positive change.

The Core idea: You’re not “a problem to fix”, you’re a person to understand. We can create positive change through awareness, authenticity, emotion and understanding of your true needs.

What it emphasises:

  • Your felt experience (what it’s like to be you)

  • Emotions and needs (not just thoughts)

  • Understand your story, values, meaning, identity

What it looks like:

  • Working with emotion in real time

  • Body sensations, imagery, memory, “parts” enactments

  • Let’s stay with this feeling and see what it’s protecting or needing

  • Examining the belief or story you’re living inside (“I’m not enough”, “I’m unsafe”)

  • Tracing how it formed, what it protects, what it costs you

  • Creating a more flexible, truthful meaning framework going forward

The Difference Between psychotherapy, psychology & psychiatry

Psychology is the profession and study of how people think, feel and behave. It looks at how the mind works and how we’re influenced by things like biology (the brain and nervous system), learning and memory, emotions, relationships, culture, trauma, personality and our environment. Psychologist are trained to assess, diagnose and treat mental health disorder and concerns.

Psychotherapy is the treatment process itself, often called “talk therapy”, and it can be provided by different trained mental health professionals, including psychologists and psychotherapists. While Psychiatry is a medical specialty, so psychiatrists are doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication and some also provide therapy.
